Bruno Besa's verdict:
Deep garnet to tawny, pink rim. Wonderfully spicy nose, with mature yet fresh small red fruits, cedarwood, and oriental spices. Compact, medium-bodied palate, with an agile character that is inviting and perfect for classic, rich Tuscan main courses. Great tannins and a long, layered finish. A classic Brunello of the highest standard.
......Generalizing about a vintage in Montalcino is unwise, as the elevation of the vineyards varies enormously, but there are some real standouts. Growers to look out for include Gianni Brunelli, La Gerla, Fornacina, Fossacolle, Le Chiuse, Mastrojanni, Casanova di Neri, Il Poggione, Salvioni, San Filippo, Poggio di Sotto, Tenute del Cerro, Uccelliera, Val di Suga and Villa i Cipressi.......
